KiroNews Overview and Growth
KIRO TV is the CBS television affiliate in Seattle, Washington. Currently
KIRO television station carries syndicated programs and shows and is
one of the five local Seattle television stations that can be seen in
Canada.
Founded in 1958, KIRO-TV became a CBS affiliate, and after severe
competition with other CBS affiliates such as KTNT, KIRO eventually
won, and remained the only CBS affiliate in the region in the early
1960s.
An affiliate of the same CBS Radio News is 710 KIRONews radio, that
covers the largest part of the West of the Washington state, and parts
of Oregon and British Columbia.
710 KIRONews is a traffic leader, as it has the largest radio news
department in the Northwest Pacific. The past decade has brought 710
KIRONews radio several distinctions and awards for news broadcasting.
A professional news radio, 710 KIRO is a useful source of information
on traffic, weather, national and international events, seven days a
week, 24 hours a day. Besides news it also broadcasts live talk shows
and popular local sports games.
