BETNEWS: Black Entertainment News
BET (Black Entertainment Television) is a television targeting Afro-Americans
from the United States. From their viewers’ point of view it is
far better than any MTV because music is mostly hip-hop and R&B.
It was founded in the ‘80s and from an initial broadcasting of
2 hours per weekend it raised to the powerful network television that
it is today. They sustain social campaigns to prevent the spreading
of HIV/AIDS in the Afro-American community.
BETNEWS became important for the network since October 1986 and from
that year on the television tried to present the news from the perspective
of the targeted community and with reports that directly concerned them.
The BET Nightly News shows reappeared in the 1999 and lasted until
2005 and the show was improved with many news updates and stories that
attracted the African-American community’s attention. "BET
Nightly News" is the only nightly news show to report the day's
national and international headlines with a uniquely community-targeted
perspective.
