UnionTribune Reporting in San Diego
The UnionTribune, with its extended name the San Diego UnionTribune,
appears in San Diego, California under the print of the Copley Press.
The present-day newspaper resulted from the successful merger in February
1992, of the San Diego Union and the Evening Tribune.
Both
the above mentioned papers made history for the American journalism
in California. They both go back to the mid and late 19th century. The
San Diego Union was founded in 1868, while the Evening Tribune in December
1895. The UnionTribune prides itself in being one of the oldest business
in Southern California, and the second-oldest newspaper in the region.
Professionalism and unbiased news reporting have brought the Tribune
Union several Pulitzer prizes, the most recent of which was awarded
in 2006 for National Reporting. The UnionTribune made sensational disclosure
of the bribe-taking former Rep. Randy Cunningham that was sentenced
to prison afterwards.
