TampaTribune "Life Printed Daily"
With the motto, ‘life printed daily’, The TampaTribune
is the second major newspapers published in Tampa Bay Florida, the first
being the St Petersburg Times.
Owned
by the Media General, it is one of the most important newspapers the
group owns together with the Richmond Times Dispatch.
The TampaTribune covers Tampa, St Petersburg and Clearwater, which
is the largest part of Tampa Bay, and it deals with the local community
news.
The TampaTribune became a daily publication in 1895 when Wallace Stovall
changed its issuing from once a week to daily issuing.
In 1958 the TampaTribune purchased the Tampa Daily Times and continued
to publish it until 1982.
Unlike the Tampa Daily Times that was essentially liberal to moderate,
the TampaTribune showed a conservative to moderate bias.
In 2000, the Tribune became a partner of WFLA-TV and TBO within the
same Media General group arrangement.
