SunNewsPaper Tabloid News
A tabloid daily newspaper, the Sun is published in the United Kingdom
and the Republic of Ireland. It enjoys the highest circulation of all
the English-language newspapers from all over the world.
The Sun replaced the Daily Herald in 1964 when it was published for
the first time. The Herald had taken the Labor Party political side,
but the target audience was the aging working-class.
The Daily Herald could not compete with the Mirror. This is when the
necessity to launch a new left-of-center daily for a new mid-market
imposed itself and the Sun was created.
The Sun did not sell as well as expected and in 1969, the IPC-Mirror
Group sold the newspaper to Rupert Murdoch. The latter, immediately
re-launched the magazine as tabloid, and maintained the Labor political
bias.
Nowadays, the Sun covers the entertainment industry, deals with the
gossip around the British monarchy, sports people and celebrities’
lives in general.
