MiddletownPress Historic Newspaper
With a history of 200 years, Middletown had its first newspaper published
in 1839, under the name of Middletown Mail. At the time, Middletown
was a very small community in rural America that was just starting a
local economy.
It is the old Middletown Mail that set the journalistic tradition in
Middletown. There is little historical record about other local journalistic
attempts in that period. Tradition is now carried on by the MiddletownPress at present.
The main daily newspaper of Middletown, Connecticut, the MiddletownPress covers Portland, Durham, East Hampton, East Haddam, Cromwell,
Haddam and Middlefield counties.
Owned by the Journal Register Company, The MiddletownPress covers
both local and general news from politics, business and economics, sports
and entertainment and many more directed to the local community.
