EverettHerald Daily Newspaper
The EverettHerald is the daily newspaper issued for the Snohomish
and Island counties only 30 miles to the North of Seattle. Property
to the Washington Post Co, The EverettHerald chose to build its online
version archive in collaboration with Clickshare Service Corp.
Thanks to Clickshare, the EverettHerald has been able to sell achieved
editorial content on the Internet. Their news archives starting with
1997 can be viewed and consulted for personal use, or may be simply
downloaded but only after a 30-day period after their publication.
The advantages that the EverettHerald found in using Clickshare reside
in their being able to preserve the graphics, the links and location
of the original pages even within the archive. Other archiving services
would have turned the EverettHerald content into text format, losing
pictures and background.
A 2001 Advanced Interactive Media Group report showed that a vast majority
of newspapers choose to sell their content online. For some of them
Internet-based commerce has grown as important as the physical distribution
of their issues.
